One Year Ago...

on December 15, 2004, I started this cooking blog and have had a ball cooking and sharing my recipes with everyone who comes and visits here.

I've met some wonderful people through blogging and consider you my friends.

I shall continue posting recipes, and I hope you will continue to come here to see what's cooking.

Everybody eats when they come to my house!

Buon appetito a tutti!

Isabella, I know I am new to your blog I have enjoyed your great cooking recipes. I am having about 12 over for Christmas dinner I was wondering if you have any ideas for a good low stress dinner. I am open to any suggestions it doesn't have to be turkey and all that stuff.

Happy Anniversary Isabella! I've been lucky enough to be witness to most of that year. Keep up the great work.

dbackdad,

Thanks for the good wishes. And the same to you.

red molly,

A simple meal for Christmas? How about a beef roast(allow about 6 oz. of meet per person) with roasted root vegetables and onions (carrots, potatoes, parsnips, turnips) all of this can be cooked in the oven, serve with a salad, cookies and pies for dessert.

Consult with the butcher at your local market to find out how large a roast you'll need for 12 people.

Or another elegant dinner would be a pork crown roast. This could be served with an accompaniment of sauted apple slices, onions, raisins and walnuts in butter, sugar and cinnamon, and string beans and cherry tomatoes.

Again, check with the meat dept. in your local supermarket for the size of the roast.

You can search the internet for a good recipe.

search under this: pork crown roast

I don't have any recipes for either the beef or the pork, since I rarely cook either meat. As you know from visiting here, most of my meals are centered around vegetables, fish, and shellfish.

Good luck.

Isabella

Thanks Isabella, Both recipes sound wonderful but I'm like you I cook mostly vegatables, fish and shellfish and sometimes poultry. Last year for Christmas I made a butternut squash and hazelnut lasagne with a white sauce that was delicious. I may make that again and pair it with a roasted turkey breast. Thanks again.

red molly,

your lasagna recipe sounds scrumptious! I may do something like that myself! Thanks for the idea.

The turkey breast as a "secondo" sounds good. I'd go with your lasagna. Sounds like you've got a tradtion going there.

Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas, Isabella! I hope you have a wonderful celebration, however you celebrate!

Thank you for sharing all your recipes, stories, and photos. I look forward to all that is to come on The Hungry Blogger.

Thanks for a nice blog
